Organizational Mission
The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is to support the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide.

Society Vision
The vision of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is to create a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world’s people.

There is one mission: To support nurses; and three concepts: learning, knowledge and professional development. Try to envision a world where the people realize improved health due to the efforts of nursing leadership in knowledge, scholarship, service, and learning. Nurses can and do make a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Members of Mu Theta at Large Chapter represent three Catholic institutions of higher learning: College of St. Elizabeth, Felician College, and St. Peter’s University. The resume of member accomplishments is very impressive. We have deans of nursing schools and nurse executives among the membership. We enjoy the expertise of nurse practitioners, professors of nursing, and authors of nursing textbooks and articles. Members do research, present findings at professional meetings and publish results. Some write questions for the NCLEX examination. Members serve in elected office as policy makers at the local, state, and national levels. Members serve with serve with certifying bodies and at grass roots levels. Members have started schools of nursing around the world. We raise money for scholarship and also feed the hungry and clothe the homeless.

As a member of Mu Theta at Large Chapter, these amazing nurses are your network and your partnership with the chapter can lead us to even more innovative ways to express the mission and vision of Sigma Theta Tau International. Together we can make a difference.

How do we do this at Mu Theta at Large Chapter? We support nurses to advanced education and knowledge through scholarships and professional support. We provide opportunities for researchers to present their work at local, state, national, and international venues. We participate in regional and national organizational meetings. We support groups that go abroad to provide direct care and health education. Nurses working together are a powerful force for improved health of the world’s population.

Mu Theta at Large Chapter is a launching pad for new nurses and a support system for experienced nurses. Monitor the website for events that interest you. We are counting on our members to share skills, talents, dreams and ambition to make a difference here and around the world.
